Abstract: In 2004, the New Media Consortium (NMC) launched its inaugural Horizon Project publication entitled, the NMC Horizon Report-Higher Education Edition, which examined six technologies predicted to impact universities and colleges in the subsequent five years. Since 2004, there have been 40 editions of the NMC Horizon report released with 50 foreign language translations and the focus has expanded beyond higher education into other sectors including K-12 education, libraries and museums (see http://www.nmc.org/nmc-horizon/). The reports are developed with the assistance of a panel of international experts representing a wide spectrum of interests and sources of information, and have helped inform policy makers, administrators, practitioners. This presentation will provide an overview of the NMC history, and the Horizon reports and identify those most relevant to Teacher Education programs, and discuss general uses for preservice teacher education training and practice.
