Abstract: A series of online learning modules form the foundation for an innovative and technology-based approach to school-based professional learning for K-8 mathematics teachers, particularly in rural areas. A unique combination of self-paced, asynchronous structure, instructor facilitation, collaboration with peers, and access to online resources is proving to be an effective means of bringing professional learning to teachers in the school setting. We describe how online modules, blending original material with high-quality Common Core resources from other states and organizations, engage teachers in actively learning mathematics, using standards to guide instruction, and bringing the Mathematical Practices to life in the classroom. ...
