Abstract: This paper reports collaborative efforts between a middle school math teacher in the Hawai`i Department of Education (HDOE) and a Learning Enhancement Through Innovations (LEI Aloha) grant team within the Department of Educational Technology (ETEC) at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa (UHM) in developing creative and successful learning opportunities for students by integrating iPads in their math class. A “System of Reciprocity” (Fulford & Eichelberger, 2003) approach was implemented in this project. We discuss how we leveraged the limited grant resources to create a mutually beneficial partnership among all parties involved. The data collected showed collective benefits to the K-12 participants and the university team.
