Education 3.0: Individualized, Authentic and Connected
Abstract: Education 3.0 will be marked by the paradox of individuality and connectedness in authentic contexts. These three ideas, individuality, authentic contexts, and connectedness are foundational to Education 3.0, and this papers provides an initial exploration of the rationale behind including each in a definition of today’s instructional landscape. The second half of the paper focuses on application of the definition. Theory to practice is demonstrated through the application of Knowles’ seven step instructional process in the design of learning experiences that are individual, authentic and connected (Knowles, 2005). Instructional techniques (to be used online, face to face or hybrid) are provided for each of the seven steps to further improve application of theory. Keywords: individualized instruction, adult learning theory, situated cognition, instructional techniques, authentic context
