Abstract: The authors engaged in a multi-year study on post-secondary faculty use of social media and the reporting and assessment of academic productivity. The presentation includes a review of the current literature related to faculty productivity, social and scholarly impact, and social network analysis; a case study of two of the authors’ use of social media for academic purposes; and the results of social network analysis procedures applied to document a single scholar’s productivity and impact. The analysis results include graphical illustrations of impact that a scholar might be use as part of an annual report documenting his/her professional activity. The study reveals potential strategies to increase and effectively illustrate scholarly productivity.
