Abstract: Pre-service teachers reported that they regarded social studies as a difficult subject to teach in their future classrooms. It is important for teacher educators, especially social studies and technology faculty to challenge pre-service teachers’ existing paradigm to change their mindset towards teaching social studies and technology integration. Better preparations for pre-service teachers are needed in order to transform the curricula in K-6 education. In this best practices presentation, the presenter will talk about the design, best practices and challenges of a blended learning module on integration technology into social studies classrooms in an education technology orientation course. The presenter will also showcase some of the best artifacts created by pre-service teachers. The presenter wants to start a conversation with other teacher educators on how to provide sound technology preparation to pre-service teachers to prepare them for teaching social studies content.
