Abstract: Systematic encouragement of good students is an innovative spin on the theory of positive reinforcement that makes perfect practical, theoretical, and pedagogical sense for both students and faculty. Session participants will discuss how to introduce new and emerging faculty of all technology skill levels to examples of positive engagement with high performing students, student reactions to this type of communication, and the inherent challenges with implementing this system. While these strategies focus on electronic interaction, participants will discuss how non-digital l communication methods can also be great teaching tools.
