Teaching Computer Game Design to Middle School Students
Best Practices
ID: 48110
Abstract: This presentation will focus on the presenters 10 years of experience teaching computer game design in inner-city schools in Denver Colorado (mostly in middle schools). The presenter will focus on experiences with 'Alice' and 'Agent Sheets;' two tools designed to teach computer programming logic in an easily accessible setting. These tools naturally mix STEM ideas and Art ideas together (STEAM). Also, the presenter will lead a brief discussion regarding research on the above mentioned tools and benefits to middle school students.
