Abstract: Online modules allows students to learn in a self-directed, asynchronous environment. These types of modules provide focused instruction based on individuals’ pace of learning. This study explored the integration of authentic learning practices of a traditionally didactic-based lecture into the development of an interactive, asynchronous, online learning module. The online module assessment tools utilized best practices in teaching and learning, adult learning, and instructional technology. The results of this study indicate that the topic of motivational interviewing can be successfully delivered in online environment with improved learner outcomes.
