Student Teachers’ Technology Use, Beliefs and Integration Barriers
Abstract: Student teachers at a major Midwestern American university were invited to complete an online survey regarding the current status of technology integration in their student teaching classrooms in relation to their beliefs and the possible barriers that prevented them from utilizing technology in curriculum. Analysis of the survey data indicated that although most student teachers were adept technology users, their technology integration practices in classrooms greatly varied and may be impacted by a number of factors such as digital inequities, personal beliefs, lack of time, and inadequate administrative support. Data analysis also indicated that most student teachers were satisfied with the technology preparation in their programs but still would like to receive continuous technology mentoring and support from the university in their early teaching careers.
