Honoring Native Roots: Online Resources for Learning About Native Americans

Abstract: As a result of this poster presentation, teachers will be assisted in addressing several Common Core standards in reading and language arts connected to the social sciences through online resources. In addition to being acquainted with online sources pertaining to the culture of Native Americans in general, audience members will also receive resources to assist their students in technology-based writing assignments on Native American culture. Online Resources on Native American History and Culture included in this poster presentation are: 1. Resources pertaining to the history of Native peoples; 2. Resources pertaining to food, clothing, and housing of Native peoples; 3. Resources depicting the daily life of Native peoples; 4. Resources examining the subjugation of Native peoples.
