Abstract: The Florida Center for Instructional Technology course designers, with a grant from WNET Thirteen, created a free, online course to introduce teachers to the concept of game-based learning. This course, MISSION US: Interactive Gaming in the Social Studies Classroom, engages teachers in hands-on activities involving free resources provided by Mission US (http://www.mission-us.org/) and guides them in engaging students in assuming roles of historical peers, discussions, developing decision-making skills and solving problems.
