Abstract: This paper discusses the use of social media in education and especially in IS/ICT education. The aim has been to identify bottlenecks and success factors in the adoption of social media in IS/ICT classes. The study was based on the unified technology adoption approach as the best background theory to study this phenomenon. Followed by the theoretical part the rationale and design of the study survey on the use of social media in learning is introduced and the results are analyzed. In addition to show the bottlenecks and the success factors, our aim was comparing the data provided by the students to the data provided by the faculty members. The comparison is needed to reveal the guidelines for planning social-media-based learning activities. The study revealed the relevancy of infrastructure issues as the major issue in the planning of learning activities based on social media.
