Abstract: The potential of math learning math apps continues to be acknowledged by educators and designers. However, there are few research studies that show improvements in students learning mathematics resulting from playing with the app. This paper describes a review of math apps using a framework incorporating both the SAMR and TPACK models. These analyses will help inform teachers on how the app’s instructional role can support and enhance aspects of student learning directly related to the math content that it is intended to teach.
