Public School Teachers Awareness, Experiences and Perceptions regarding Open Education Resources

Abstract: This paper intends to reveals the results of a survey study in which awareness, experiences and perceptions of the public school teachers in one of the provinces of Turkey were investigated. Open education resources (OER) are defined as any type of educational materials and courses that are in the public domain or introduced with an open license. An online questionnaire derived from the instrument developed by OER Research Hub was used to collect data. The analyses will be completed in mid-February and the report will be ready for the SITE Conference in March. However, the initial analyses have shown that a big number of teachers are not aware of open education resources and a few have some sort of experience. The big majority expresses on the importance of several factors for effective use of OER, such as easy access, direct link with the national curriculum, and alignment with the centralized tests.
