Abstract: The Instructional Technology Master’s Program (ITMA) at Virginia Tech was founded in 1998 and is designed to meet the needs of professional educators in K-12 schools, community colleges, and higher education, as well as corporate trainers and other instructional development professionals outside of the academic realm. Since its inception, ITMA has been a fully online program that currently has over 400 graduates. Throughout the years, various aspects of the program have evolved, including the focus of the program, selection of courses, instructional practices, views towards online learning, and the roles of faculty and staff. Some lessons that were learned, as well as the challenges that were overcome throughout the past 18 years will be discussed in this poster presentation. The presenters will also take questions regarding what it has taken to run this successful online program.

Presider: Mehmet Ali Ozer, New Mexico State University
