Abstract: The advent of new media necessitates the integration of new media into education. Thus, it is a requisite for teachers to have New Media Literacy (NML). The present study aims to investigate preservice teachers’ NML level by adapting a current comprehensive NML survey, which includes ten scales, to Turkish language. The data were collected from 972 preservice teachers enrolled in 11 teacher training programs in five public universities in Turkey. The construct validity, internal consistency, item consistency, and item discrimination were provided for the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the scales within the survey. The results indicated that preservice teachers had the highest level of NML in Functional Consuming Skills and the lowest level of NML in Critical Prosuming Participation. It was also revealed that pre-service teachers’ level of NML changed depending on the type of program they were enrolled in while most of them were found to be approximate to each other.
