Abstract: In this action research study, participants are encouraged to rethink assessment and evaluation in K12 education in Azerbaijan; argue the challenges and advantages of assessment "for and of" learning in education; explore best practices, assessment tools that incorporate transdisciplinary, sustainable, replicable and innovative projects. Through the rediscovery process, fourteen graduate students explored and redesigned strategies, curricula, and programs for improving student learning outcomes, gained alternative point of view on the role assessment on education and renewed interest and commitment to educational assessment. Graduate students and teacher education faculty collaborated on rethinking the assessment for K12 education from process to product; explored innovative and transdisciplinary strategies and approaches from United States, and redesigned their courses, program rubrics and competency checklists integrating global competencies and media and information literacy skills.
