Research Results of Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO) 2016
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a research study on a Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO) held in 2016, the eight in the series of DISTCO projects. The project was designed so that K-12 students could submit original digital stories within a specified time frame and contest requirements. The competition was held online, and original digital stories were required to be submitted using an official contest website (http://www.distco.org). Specifically, the research analyzes students’ perspectives on using digital stories in the classroom, motivating factors, preferred content areas for digital stories, and digital storytelling software. In addition, students’ self efficacy towards learning and performance and digital storytelling as well as creative and computer self-efficacy was investigated.
