Project Based Learning (PBL) with Digital Storytelling Approach: Research Results of Digital Storytelling Contest (DISTCO) PBL 2016
Abstract: This paper highlights the research results of Digital Storytelling Contests (DISTCO) PBL 2015. Due to the lack of current research on the Project-Based-Learning (PBL) with Digital Storytelling approach, a new project was developed based on the experiences of DISTCO. Digital stories were accepted online through http://www.distco.org/PBL. Specifically, this paper will highlight how students responded to project-based-learning with digital storytelling approach in the classroom, what they hoped to gain by using digital stories in PBL projects, whether digital stories helped students to prepare for the standardized state assessment tests, students’ beliefs and observations on the impacts of digital storytelling on their learning and 21st century skills. In addition, the impacts on creative self –efficacy; and self-efficacy towards computers and digital storytelling; and grade level and gender preferences will be investigated.
