Abstract: Technology has become a significant part of our everyday lives, including the activities involved in teaching and learning in the classroom. For example, many schools are currently implementing or preparing to implement what is termed a “one-to-one” initiative, where every student has their own technological device to use at school, and there is a need to further understand the implications and evolving nature of the use of this technology at the secondary level. By understanding the potential benefits and obstacles of integrating new educational technologies, administrators and teachers can develop plans and strategies to more effectively and efficiently use this technology to greatest benefit of their students. The purpose of this case study is to examine the attitudes of a high school biology teacher regarding the use of one-to-one technology in the classroom. Findings and implications for using one-to-one technology to maximize teaching and learning are discussed.
