Abstract: The purpose of the project is to determine how audio might be used in an asynchronous online discussion forum. In online courses, students typically participate in weekly discussion forum where they post responses to course readings and engage in conversation with their peers. These discussion forum are many times utilized to determine if students have read the required readings and understand the course material. Responses generally range from very in depth to very vague. Introducing audio into these traditional discussion forums could provide a different means for communication and therefore, increase student interest and engagement. During this presentation, the results of this project will be shared.
