Abstract: This study, in the field of computer-mediated intercultural collaboration, describes the initial phases of teletandem implementation in Arabic, Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese, Turkish, Italian and Kiswahili classes at a US university First, we address the impact of globalization and new technology on foreign-language education, the concept of telecollaboration, teletandem, and the Teletandem Brasil Project as well as its theoretical constructs Next, we describe the methodological procedures followed by our findings Finally, we include some considerations and reflections on this study
