Abstract: At our university, technology is viewed as a tool to support meaningful student learning and is integrated throughout coursework and field placement requirements. Faculty are trained and provided with tools to model the effective use of technology for students who are required to demonstrate their own proficiency in the creation and delivery of lessons for pk-12 students. To ensure that pre-service teachers are provided with in-service mentors who themselves model effective use of technology, we offer a Teacher Technology Summer Institute for local teachers who then serves as hosts for the pre-service teachers. Building partnerships with local school districts strengthens the goal of graduating teachers who have the theoretical and pedagogical knowledge and experience in the meaningful use of technology. Alumni and principal surveys, and feedback from stakeholders in our advisory council, enable us to assess where we are and where we need to go in achieving this goal.
