Abstract: This paper describes the common security flows and their countermeasures found in the literature to avoid the most common Internet attacks and to protect user’s privacy for the E-learning providers that are using the most advanced systems. This paper will describe the security risks and the protection measures that will reduce attacking these systems. The findings identified the security risks and have proposed solutions to mitigate the security threats in E-Learning. Most of the findings in the literature confirm that E-learning providers and practitioners have not considered security as a top priority. The paper also discusses how to provide safer personal learning environment which requires a solution for authentication, assures the security of online assessments, and balances security and usability.
