Share Paper: Can Mobile Games be Used to Teach for Social Justice?

Abstract: The paper will investigate the potential of using mobile games to teach for social justice and whether digital games with high-quality graphics and simulation will produce a better learning experience and outcomes for participants. A mobile game, Liyla and the Shadows of War, will be used in this research to compare the findings from researching Darfur Is Dying as a digital game to promote social justice education. Ten undergraduate students from a Midwestern University will be sampled, and a qualitative method will be designed to use observations and interviews to collect data.
