Abstract: In an effort to encourage students to go above and beyond classroom expectations and establish a habit of lifelong learning, teachers are empowered to use blended and flipped learning strategies to design a “Leonardo da Vinci Challenge” for their students to complete. Points are earned as students use technology tools to explore science, engineering, art, and math connections to the past, present, and future – and challenge themselves through a variety of self-paced activities including investigation, experimentation, problem-solving, invention, interviews, readings, writing, web adventures, research, memorization, presentation, field trips and virtual fields.
