Engaging Students through a Podcast Assignment in Canvas LMS
Abstract: A Georgetown University School of Medicine course gave students an optional group assignment to utilize podcasts to convey medical/scientific information to their peers. With technical support from the instructional technology division in the school's library, they created podcasts using Discussions in Canvas for peers and faculty to listen to. Their post-assignment feedback presented what learning experiences and technical issues they encountered from creating podcasts in the learning management system and indicated how the assignment impacted student engagement and collaborative learning within the course.
