A Conceptual Framework for Teaching Technology Integration: Insights from the Literature
Abstract: The poster paper presents a conceptual framework for teaching technology integration based on the findings from the literature. The literature typically presents research on technology integration in two aspects: professional development for in-service teachers and the technology integration education for pre-service teachers in teacher education programs. In fact, the goals of professional development and teacher education in regards to technology integration are fundamentally the same: to increase teacher knowledge and practice. Therefore, the conceptual framework presented in the poster draws from the literature on both the professional development practices for in-service teachers and the technology integration instructional practices in teacher education programs. The framework outlines key elements contributing to the success of technology integration practices in the classrooms including targeted instruction, supervised fieldwork, and guided reflection.
