Abstract: In the past few years, there has been a rise in the creation of computer or web-based technology specifically designed to provide highly collaborative, immersive and interactive learning environments for learners. Virtual Reality technology (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are two tools which when applied to the educational setting, provide authentic learning experiences for students. Through a review of the literature, this paper presents an overview of VR and AR technology in education, conveys the current applications and trends and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of integrating the technology with Language education.
