Abstract: We use a "personal science inquiry story" podcasting project that allows elementary teacher candidates to tell personal stories that illustrate something about who they are, generate related science inquiry questions, and engage in science-related research and communication. Then they write, produce, and share podcasts that encompass the whole journey. Teacher candidates participate in "story circles" at the beginning and the end of the project, with a focus on identifying their own identities related to their communities and their own relationship with science, and comparing their science stories with those of others as a way of reflecting on diversity. The presentation will share the assignment, including examples and reflections on how the project can generate some conversations about knowing your learners and yourselves.
