An Investigation of Teacher Change Fatigue on the Technology Acceptance Model for High School Teachers
Abstract: The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was designed to examine the acceptance and use of one technology at a time; however, with the increase in the availability of technology and demand for technological skills in future workers, teachers are now faced with higher technology change rates than in the past. This study aimed to investigate change fatigue’s relationship with the original TAM variables by surveying secondary teachers from a highly-populated, technology-rich, suburban district on the east coast of the United States. Path analysis was used to assess model fit. Neither the TAM model nor the TAM model plus change fatigue were found to be a good fit for the data; however, correlational data showed a statistically significant relationship between change fatigue and perceived usefulness. This relationship was not predicted in this study and it is suggested that future research investigate if change fatigue is a potential determinant of perceived usefulness.
