Abstract: In this presentation we will share our experience developing an open educational resources (OER) textbook for Writing 250: Advanced Composition at the University of Mississippi. The textbook is the product of a collaboration with the other members of the Writing 250 Curriculum Committee, who are charged with the design, review, and redevelopment (as needed) of the course’s curriculum. One of the presenters is the chair of the committee and has been in that role since Summer 2012. The other presenter has been a member of the committee since Fall 2013. We will address the curriculum and enrollment challenges that prompted the creation of our textbook, as well as the processes/best practices we followed, obstacles we encountered, and our future plans for assessment.
