Abstract: Portfolios are most effective when you build them over time with careful, intentional selection of artifacts and reflection about the learning process and subsequent skills developed in creating those artifacts. Portfolios often lack proper scaffolding and are used more for assessment than their broader potential as a learning tool (Barrett, 2005; Eynon & Gambino, 2017; Roberts, Maor, & Herrington, 2016; Stefani, Mason, & Pegler, 2007).
