Abstract: Computational thinking is a way of formulating a problem so that a computer can find a solution. It involves looking for patterns within multiple sets of data and using algorithmic thinking to find solutions. In this way, it becomes a critical literacy for future-ready youth. In this paper the authors report the results of a National Forum on Computational Thinking held in Philadelphia, PA on January 24, 2020 funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The forum builds off of previous work conducted as part of the American Library Association and Google funded Libraries Ready to Code initiative. The National Forum included an interdisciplinary group of twelve faculty from computer science, learning sciences, art education, and library science who were brought together to design three computational thinking modules for pre-service librarians. This paper will present the three modules developed (1) an introductory module, (2) an immersive module, and (3) an advanced learning module.
