Share Paper: Integration of Technology to Improve Student Engagement and Learning in Autism Integrated Classroom

Abstract: Today’s K-12 classrooms are seeing effective integration of 21st-century technology. These technologies range from low to high-tech and include smartphones, tablets, desktops, smart whiteboards, voice-dictation tools, Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices, etc. Students with autism typically show low levels of engagement as compared to their typically developing peers. These technologies are enabling teaching and learning by facilitating effective student’s engagement and learning. With the use of technology, students receive immediate visual feedback and show improvements in socials skills, academics, organizational skills, and functional skills.
