Abstract: With the datafication of every aspect of our lives increasing exponentially, secondary schools in England and in the Czech Republic have had to adapt and now face the paradigm of data storage. Most have opted for a Cloud storage solution. Yet this adoption raises questions on the hidden gains of these privately owned Cloud organisations. In this paper we question whether due diligence was applied in regard to their adoption and implementation, especially on stakeholders’s data safeguarding and consent. We also raise the need to deepen the discussion on the ramifications of the compulsory adoption of cloud technology in schools.
