Abstract: Social studies curriculum has the potential to model, influence, and deepen the understanding of students' worldview, especially geography, which is a core subject in schools exploring the relations between humans and environments. As many people know, learning takes place in physical environments. However, geography teachers use whiteboards, textbooks, and maps for teaching in classrooms, and textbook-centric approaches lead to much dislike for many students. Thus, immersive technology increases users' attention, motivation, and productivity in the educational process. This paper proposes 360-degree videos as a technology tool to apply in geography classrooms to help geography teachers understand the benefits of using 360-degree videos. The advantages and disadvantages of 360-degree videos for geography education are detailed. To know the impact of 360-degree videos on students' learning motivations, engagements, and outcomes, teachers can compare two exam results, using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ), and conduct interviews to learn their perspectives and experiences about 360-degree videos in geography education.
