Abstract: K-12 classroom teachers play an important role in effectively delivering standard-based instructions to all students in their classrooms including students with disabilities. The authors will provide insight into professional learning programs to support teachers in teaching students with disabilities in the United States and India. Teachers lack the knowledge and skills to deliver instructional pedagogical practices to students with wide-ranging learner characteristics and effectively teach them. There is a need to implement professional learning programs to support teachers to teach students with disabilities in the inclusive classroom. This paper will discuss the need for professional learning programs to train teachers to instruct students with disabilities in K-12 classrooms.
