Abstract: COVID-19 has left our student with a "lost year" leaving teachers to identify students’ academic gaps and supports to fill those gaps. Digital tools exist that can assist in assembling premade interactive content to build lessons. Nearpod resources allow for lessons to be very versatile and differentiate for student’s needs. Attempting to address the unfinished learning after COVID-19 school closures can be a daunting task but digital tools like Nearpod that provide supplemental premade standards-aligned K-12 resources for all subjects can make it possible to work synchronous, asynchronous or hybrid with students. The possibility of assessment through Nearpod activities is easy to incorporate and use on time data to drive possible reteaching opportunities.

Objectives

The objectives of the Best Practices Session would be to show instances in where Nearpod has been used within a one-to-one device middle school to meet the needs of students who returned to face to face instruction for the 2021-2022 school year after most students were out for over a year. Examples of lesson spanning from grade levels 6th grade to 8th grade are included showing how they used content that was premade within Nearpod and also preexisting content that they were able to upload to a Nearpod lesson. Techniques are that include teacher experiences of using the tolls teacher and students paced to meet the needs of the different student needs. Possibilities of post-class evaluation and assessment are also shared to share insight and analysis of student performance to provide more intentional instruction with reteaches.
