Educational Robotics and Programming and the Development of Higher Order Thinking Skills: The Case of the Robotics Academy
Abstract: This best practice paper presents and explains the case of the Robotics Academy, an educational-research unit at Frederik University. The Robotics academy was established in September 2013 and since then it has been intensively promoting educational robotics in the teaching and learning practice as an innovative-educational tool. The innovative robotics curriculum is explained and presented, as well as the educational and research activities of the Robotics Academy. Additionally, the impact of the educational robotics curriculum to the development and enhancement of students higher-order thinking is described based on research results. The positive impact and great potential of integrating robotics as a cognitive-learning tool is revealed based on the research and educational activities conducted by the Robotics Academy.
