This paper discusses the potential of ChatGPT, a new artificial intelligence technology, to support teacher education in mathematics. The authors, math teacher educators, explore ChatGPT's capabilities and limitations and develop a plan for integrating it into their mathematics methods classes. They also outline plans to provide opportunities for their students to use, experience, and evaluate [this tool]. The authors report that ChatGPT was able to generate grammatically correct and somewhat relevant text given appropriate prompts. The authors conclude that ChatGPT has the potential to be a valuable resource for teachers in mathematics and encourage further exploration and experimentation with the technology. [Note that this abstract, with a few minor edits, was generated by ChatGPT (OpenAI, 2022) upon being prompted by an abridged version of the paper written by the authors]
