Biography

Dalia GIEDRIMIENE, MD, PhD is a professor of Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph, Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and Research Associate/Senior Scientist at Hartford Hospital, Cardiology Department. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience in clinical medicine, especially cardiology and medical science-based courses for graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Saint Joseph School of Health & Natural Science and School of Pharmacy. For multiple years she has been involved in curriculum design and in the process of teaching students and residents at the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy Programs, and School of Health & Sciences by teaching graduates and undergraduates in Biology, Biochemistry, Nursing and Nutrition Programs. Her international presentations and publications on teaching and learning strategies are based on multiple years of experience designing and teaching science courses on-line, using innovative teaching strategies, and promoting student-centered learning for Adult Learners. Most recently she had an opportunity to participate in the development of a new curriculum for the School of Pharmacy as a 3-year Pharm D. program with an innovative integration of block-teaching system. Dr. Giedrimiene’s scientific and clinical research experience can be counted for more than 25 years. She is an internationally known researcher in the field of non-invasive cardiology. Her numerous investigations and evaluations of effectiveness the of anti-arrhythmic drugs and their influence on electrophysiological functions of the heart, studies related to sudden cardiac death prediction and health care utilization have been internationally recognized, presented at international conferences, and published in peer-reviewed journals. She is also actively involved in research projects related to women’s health and gender-based differences in patients with cardiovascular disease. Dr. Giedrimiene is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association, and American Heart Failure Society. Dr. Giedrimiene has high interest in promoting technology based-teaching and learning strategies, incorporating e-learning into science curriculum for graduate students in Science and Medicine.
