Biography
Dr. Ashley Johnson-Holder ( http://aholder.fsufaculty.uncfsu.edu),a former elementary and secondary reading specialist, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education. Professor Holder currently serves as Vice President of the Cross Creek Reading Council. The council is a professional association of educators in the Cumberland County, NC area focused on the promotion of literacy in the community. She is active in many professional organizations and conducts workshops for students that increase familiarity with reading assessments and technologies. Her instructional delivery is both web-enhanced and online to promote engagement and to meet the needs of her students. Dr. Holder's research interests include struggling learners, student engagement and motivation, digital and global literacy, comprehension, assessment, teacher preparation, and 21st-century literacies.
