Biography
Joyce Johnston’s specializations in digital intellectual property and online instruction have been shaped by her 28 years at George Mason University, USA, with its focus on technology-enhanced instruction. In that time, she has served the English Department as a technology mentor, composition consultant and course section developer and pilot instructor. With the conclusion of a grant to develop students as scholars in multi-disciplinary advanced writing classes, she is now involved in a distance education curriculum enhancement project aimed at student writers in the natural sciences. Her publications and research focus on designing online courses, civility issues in distance instruction and student satisfaction with recorded oral response to their writing in online courses.
