Dr. Mary Al-Saleh, earned her BSN from Arizona State University, MSN from the University of Portland, post Masters Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Arizona State University as well as a post Masters Certificate in Gerontology. Earned her Doctorate from Widener University, where her dissertation topic examined the Student-Teacher Relationship in Internet Distance Education Courses. She also has her Certification in Nursing Education from the National League for Nursing. Dr. Al-Saleh is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Nurses Association, and the Arizona Nurses Association. Dr. Oconnell, was the first nurse educator from Widener University to ever collect data using the Internet! She is tenured faculty at Mesa Community College, and has presented courses all over the nation, to improve teaching and learning in nursing education. Her passion is technology and cooperative learning are evident in her daily teaching practices; earning her the distinction of Innovator of the Year and being awarded the Maricopa Institute for Learning Fellow. No nurse in the history of the Maricopa Community Colleges had ever earned either distinction. She is an avid advocate for technology and a pioneer in the field of emerging technology in nursing education.
