Well the SITE conference being only a few days away…I just wanted to touch-base with you prior to meeting in Austin! I am sure some of you are already planning out your schedules. I just wanted to let you know that our Science SIG meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 7th from 12:30-1:45 pm. There will be a few items on our agenda but one of the most important ones will be is to elect a new co-chair. Andrea Burrows will remain a co-chair, but my term is up. Co-chairs hold office for two years and are asked to attend the annual SITE conferences during that time. The co-chairs are responsible for leading the SIG's efforts during the year. The co-chairs also oversee the proposal submission procedure for the conference and lead the SIG meetings at the conference. One of the major responsibilities is also to assist in the selection process of the John Park NTLI award. This year’s NTLI recipient at ASTE 2017 in Des Moines, IA was Dr. Craig Berg. His presentation is scheduled for 2:15 pm right after our SIG meeting…I hope all of us can go hear his presentation. The newly elected co-chair will take office at the end of the conference on March 9th. Please don't hesitate to contact myself or Andrea if you have any questions. If you are interested in running for co-chair, send me a quick email with a short bio (a few sentences) at sasim@ius.edu by this Friday, March 3rd If we have more than one candidate, we will vote at the meeting on Tuesday. In addition to the co-chair vote, you can send me ideas for agenda/discussion topics for the SIG meeting by Friday, March 3rd. We look forward to spending time with our Science Education community at SITE 2017 in Austin!
